I've been coming here for over 5 years. the ladies are usually nice but due to language barriers, its hard to communicate sometimes. there's always a line but its worth the wait. i went on a weekend and it was pretty packed at 1pm. there's less than 8 seats inside but many people buy to go orders. their iced viet coffee is perfectly sweetened with condensed milk and super strong. i get the regular #1 banhmi sandwich spicy. the order is pretty fast, i waited less than 10 mins!

I had the combination banh mi and it hit the spot. I thought the baguette was done well, with a soft center and a crispy crust, but not too crispy that it scrapes the roof of your mouth. I came in expecting huge portions based on other reviews, but I think it's the perfect size for a single sitting--at $8 I am definitely not complaining. I also tried their papaya smoothie ($5) but unfortunately I wouldn't get this one again. I think they use some sort of papaya ice cream for it but the papaya flavor was undetectable--it tasted more like a vanilla milkshake. There are a few tables inside but this is generally a takeout spot. Sunset Park is a block away so would recommend enjoying your food there!

If you you love Vietnamese sandwiches, this is the place to taste a varieties of different styles, it's a small shop, you can dine in, but it's a tiny area, it's better to carry out, they don't delivery, they have other items like buns and cakes, but the sandwiches and Thai tea & coffee are the main seller. They service fast for customers to grab and go. Sometimes depending who's there, you might have to play a game of charade while placing an order.

I'm obsessed! I already can't wait to come back to Ba Xuyen for another banh mi and try out their other goodies as well. There's not really that many banh mi places around the area. Maybe because this store is so classic and everyone that has been in Brooklyn for a while all raves about this place being the best place to get your banh mi cravings. For $8 you get this large sandwich that can easily be shared with another person or saved for another meal. Their Vietnamese coffee is delicious as well - bitter yet sweet. They also have these warm spring rolls for $ and other pre-packaged food and desserts. We got the combination #1 as well as the grilled pork banh mi #8. If you like cold cuts, combination is perfect and refreshing for the hot summer. My partner liked the grilled pork better, and it actually tastes amazing as well when you reheat the leftover. Don't be afraid to over-order, you'll be happy to have leftovers for another meal :) **CASH ONLY***

Amazing hole in the wall for Bon me! The most popular one is number one, two, and eight! They have a lot of snacks that are on sale! I also noticed that a lot of locals come here just to get an iced coffee! Definitely worth trying out loved the bread and the toppings! Also, if you don't mention that you want normal size, they will give you no spice lol so definitely ask for a few jalapeños on the side. The ladies here work very hard, and you can tell that they pour a lot of love into the food!

Recently stopped by after dimsum nearby and decided to grab an iced coffee ($4) when I saw they had a robust display of desserts. I picked up a generous portion of bánh da lợn ($3) which is a steamed layered cake of chewy, soft tapioca and sweet mung bean paste, and bánh phu thê ($6) which came in a tray of six delectable little bites of bouncy, chewy pandan flavored tapioca jelly wrapped around a sweet mung bean and coconut paste. I also could not resist and ordered a bánh mì ($8) that had pate, ham, and bbq pork in the filling. The bread is as soft as ever, but unfortunately, the bánh mì was just as dry as it was when I wrote my first review years ago. I think the bánh mìs could benefit greatly from vegetables that are more strongly pickled, or an extra dab of mayo. For now, I prefer coming to Ba Xuyên for their sweets.

For NY standards, this is the most affordable and authentic banh mi I have seen. There aren't many Vietnamese spots in NY, so Ba Xuyen is the next best thing. You can call ahead to order so your food is ready, especially when parking can be tricky in the neighborhood. I got one #1 Combination Banh Mi ($7.50). My sandwich was already ready when I arrived and it wasn't busy at all. They never told me the price, but I knew ahead it was $7.50. When I handed over $8, they didn't seem to be giving me back change. It was awkward, so I just left. There may be some miscommunication going on, I'm not sure but 50cents. Overall, the sandwich is delicious and nicely toasted as well. If you're craving a banh mi, this spot is it. Note: it is cash only!

Best banh mi in New York hands down! FYI - it is cash only. Service is really quick but the place does get busy. You can call ahead to place your order. The women who work there are so friendly and sweet. There are a few tables and chairs but most people order to go. - #1 Banh Mi Combination for $7.50 - It comes with ham, cheese, pork roll, pork teriyaki & B.B.Q., paté, butter, cucumber, pickled carrot/daikon and cilantro. You can get it spicy with jalapeños and sirarcha or non-spicy. The bread is crunchy on the outside and fluffy/airy on the inside. Every bite is to die for. - Viet Iced Coffee for $4.00 - Only this place makes it so creamy, sweet but somewhat bitter in a good way. Best Viet coffee I've had! Be careful as this coffee is very strong and will keep you caffeinated for a while. - Grilled chicken with rice for $7.50 - The chicken is soooo juicy and flavorful. You cannot beat the price for how much chicken you get.

This is my absolute favorite banh mi spot! You can order any time of the day and the bread will still be just as fresh and crispy. I've never tried banh mi like this anywhere before. The number 1 is my go-to and is so compact with flavors. You definitely can't go wrong with anything here! I always pair my banh mi from here with an iced milk tea. This is a small local shop in Brooklyn and is a must visit if you're around town.

I saw two beautiful things today. The first was the sunset. It was perfect. I was at the park, on the hill, staring into that great gradient of the sky and that great city of NY. They are made for each other. I was happy just to stop and stare. The second was the sandwich. It was perfect. I was hungry, on the hunt, praying to see yet another beautiful marriage between heaven and earth. I found one here, where the bread meets the pork. I was happy just to stop and share.
